Mix Your Meats For Better Burgers

Chorizo, Guacamole and Sharp Cheddar

It seems that the best burgers are a mix of meats. In fact, that’s true for meatloaf, and meatballs, but we will save those for another day. Today I made a 50/50 mix of lean ground beef and beef chorizo. I topped the burger with sharp cheddar, guacamole, purple onion, and lettuce. Best Burger Ever!

Mixing the meat makes them much more flavorful. It’s also easy, really easy! Other combinations I’ve enjoyed are beef and lamb, beef and Italian sausage, pork and lamb, and turkey and chorizo. Get creative. You can also add chopped pieces of cooked bacon or ham to the mix. And of course your regular complement of seasonings (Worcestershire, garlic, onion, red pepper flake), but I find that the flavor of chorizo adds enough flavor to the beef for me.
